Computer virus leaves many without the internet

Posted: Updated:
MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Tens of thousands of internet users who did not check their computers for malware before midnight may have lost their access to the internet today.

The computers are infected with a rogue virus tied to an online advertising scam that took control of more than 500,000 infected PC and Mac computers worldwide.

The federal government had been working for months to repair the damage, but they are ending their efforts.

If your computer is infected, it might be hard to tell initially because the signs are not always obvious.

However, if you are having problems, you should call your internet service provider to get some help.
