MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – A Mississippi mother has been charged with child abuse after her daughter was hospitalized Sunday.

Tunica County deputies were called to a home in the Shady Lane Apartments just before 11:30 Sunday night, Larry Liddell, Tunica County spokesman said Tuesday.

Investigators say the one-year-old was unresponsive and was taken to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.

Officials have not released the child's condition, nor have they said how she was injured.

However, her mother, 25-year-old Latoya Ankston, is charged with felony child abuse.

Alfred Siggers, Jr., Ankston's boyfriend, is being held by authorities, but isn't currently facing any charges.

Four other children in the home at the time are currently in the custody of the Department of Human Services.

Michael Clark is talking to officials in Tunica County and will have more details on this story tonight on Action News 5 at 5 p.m.
