TRUMANN, AR -

(WMC-TV) – Jury selection resumes this morning in the trial of a man accused of shooting and killing a Trumann, Arkansas police officer in April 2011.

And we've learned a judge is going to limit the amount of video those jurors can see.

The Jonesboro Sun reports the judge in the case says playing too much video from officers' dashboard cameras would be "unduly prejudicial."

Jerry Lard is charged with capital murder. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Lard for the shooting death of Trumann officer Jonathan Schmidt.

When the officer ordered Lard out of the vehicle during a traffic stop last year, investigators say Lard pulled out a gun and shot Schmidt at close range.

According to the affidavit, Lard said repeatedly before getting out of the car, "today is the day."

Shortly after that, shots rang out.

Court documents suggest when Schmidt opened the car door, Lard got out with a gun in his right hand and shot Schmidt at close range.

A gunfight broke out between Lard and the back-up officer. One stray bullet hit a nearby apartment and at least one other bullet shattered the back windshield of the back-up officer's patrol car.

Lard has pleaded not guilty to capital murder, attempted capital murder and possession of methamphetamine, along with a firearms charge
