(WMC-TV) – Chelle Watson of Nashville watched in disbelief as network news recounted the last moments of her friend Jessica Ghawi's life.

Ghawi and another friend named Brent were both victims of the Colorado movie theater massacre.  Ghawi died.  Watson went to high school with both of them in Texas.

"Jessica is just, was just," said Watson before she started crying.  "She's just the sweetest person."

Ghawi's death came just a month after she escaped a mass shooting at a mall in Toronto, Canada.  She later wrote in her blog that every second of every day is a gift.

Ghawi was an aspiring sportscaster who interned at a Colorado radio station.

"She was just funny and full of life," said Watson.  "You know, she was an interesting, beautiful, wonderful person."

Watson said she read Ghawi's last tweet from inside the theater.  She said the movie would begin in 20 minutes.

"You don't think that's the last time you're going to hear from your friends, you know?" said Watson.

Ghawi and 11 others were shot dead shortly after.
