Former teacher pleads guilty in teen sex case

Posted: Updated:

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A former teacher at a Shelby County public school has pleaded guilty to having sex with two of her students.

According to The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/M9HZvE ), 28-year-old Stacy Hopkins of Cordova entered a plea deal for four-year sentences. In her plea, Hopkins acknowledged having sexual relations with students who were 16 and 17 at the time of the offenses.

Defense attorney Anne Tipton said she will argue for probation for her client.

The plea deal requires Hopkins to register as a sex offender for 10 years. Her attorney said Hopkins admitted having sex with three teenage males, but claimed they were no longer her students and one had turned 18.

Hopkins was fired from her physical education teaching job at Arlington High School.
