A Nashville musician came face to face with a gunman Sunday night, determined to take his car at gunpoint. The musician, who did not want to be identified, told Channel 4 News he was sitting in his car after performing at Family Wash, a popular East Nashville music venue, when the gunman walked up to his car.

"He told me to get out of the car, right before he could open the handle, I locked the door. The windows were still up. Before I could drive off, there was an explosion," said the shooting victim.

The explosion was the window shattering when the gun was fired. The bullet hit the musician in the shoulder. Doctors said since it poses no threat, the bullet will remain in his shoulder the rest of his life - a constant reminder of the violent encounter.

What he believes saved his life was not complying with the gunman's demand to get out of the car.

"If I got out of the car I would have lost everything, and I don't think that would have kept him from shooting me. Remaining in the car, not doing what he said, saved my life," said the shooting victim.

The musician told Channel 4 News it's a miracle he wasn't killed. He credits that to the power of prayer.

"I was talking out to God. I said the Lords Prayer asking him to let me stay here, to not let me die."
