Election Day information for voters

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Today is the day...Election Day that is. Residents of the state of Tennessee will have a chance to step up to the polls and vote on many hot button issues.

Voting starts at 7 a.m. and will end at 7.p.m.

Municipal schools are a hot ballot item today. Every Shelby County suburb will vote on whether they want to create their own school district, and raise taxes to do so.

In addition to the municipal schools vote, you will find ordinances involving the suburbs' sales tax. You will have the chance to vote on whether the suburbs should increase the sales tax from 2.25 percent to 2.75 percent.

You will find those ordinances on the ballot for each individual suburb.

And when it comes to ensuring you are allowed to vote, please remember to bring an acceptable form of voter identification. Library cards will not be accepted.
