LAUDERDALE COUNTY, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A double murder suspect, who was considered armed and extremely dangerous, has been captured in Tennessee.

Greenhaw is accused of murdering two people in Texas. According to Sheriff Steve Sanders with Lauderdale County, he came to Tipton County to kill his father.

After being taken into custody, Greenhaw also confessed to the August 2 armed robbery of the Rite Aid Pharmacy in Covington.

Surveillance photos from that robbery show a man, who looked a lot like Greenhaw, stealing OxyContin from the pharmacy.

Since then, he had been spotted several times, but it was not until Wednesday when he left his I.D. on the counter at a gas station that officials realized the double murder suspect was in West Tennessee.

It was in Ripley, Tennessee, where Greenhaw stopped to fill up his gas tank. Since then, Tennessee investigators have been on his trail.

"We didn't have a clue until he came over here and dropped his I.D. and run it and that's when we got the hit him being wanted," said Sheriff Sanders.

A search was launched along Highway 87 in Lauderdale County Thursday after Greenhaw was spotted at a Walmart along Highway 51.

Investigators spent Wednesday evening searching a heavily wooded area in Lauderdale County. The suspect was spotted in the woods by deputies Thursday morning near his truck. And when Greenhaw saw them, he took off.

Sheriff Sanders says they spotted Greenhaw Thursday night around 11:30 p.m. in some kudzu near the command post on Highway 87. He was seen stocking his back pack with food and drinks.

The sheriff asked his deputy to stand down until back up could get there, but by the time they arrived, Greenhaw was gone.

"If he came here to shoot his daddy, he won't hesitate to shoot one of my deputies and I won't take that chance," Sheriff Sanders said.

The deputy who spotted him Wednesday night saw the suspect with at least two weapons, a long gun and a pistol.

Hanson reports that when he was arrested, he was in possession of a handgun.

Greenhaw, 32, is wanted for the double murder of a couple found dead near Chandler, Texas last week. We are told that Greenhaw and the couple were friends.

Investigators say he has likely been in West Tennessee for more than one week.

Corey Stewart says she came across Greenhaw one week ago while fishing. She says she had no idea the man she was talking to was wanted for murder.

"He acted fine nonchalant 'How's your fishing? Caught any fish?' I said, 'No, did you? Did you catch any fish?' And he said 'No,'" Stewart said.

Greenhaw was spotted Wednesday by Sheriff Sanders.

"We saw him kneel down over by the bank, we split up at that time, some went to look for him on the bank and some went to the location where he was," said Sanders.

Greenhaw was found near a log along Cold Creek in western Lauderdale County.

Donny Greenhaw was booked into the Lauderdale County Jail Friday afternoon. He will soon be going back to Texas to face murder charges.
