(WMC-TV) - Mid-Southerners in search of work may hit the jackpot.
Earlier today, Tango Transport held a job fair. Hundreds came out to apply and the application process isn't over.
Jacqueline Mask says she may not look like a truck driver, but it's a job she misses.
She drove a truck for six years before losing her job in the industry three years ago.
She hopes that will soon change.
"It's the freedom, it's a good job, I love it, I love it," said Mask.
She and hundreds of others came out Saturday for a job fair at Tango Transport in West Memphis.
Tango is one of the fastest growing trucking companies in the US and has an immediate need for 100 new employees.
"We need more mechanics," stated Julie Andreoni with Tango Transport. "More dispatchers, more office personnel, more shop personnel and the list goes on."
Mask and others who applied Saturday say the job market is still tough.
But Mask says there's hope here, especially in the trucking industry, because of Memphis' designation as the nation's distribution headquarters.
"I'm employed now but I'm still at a job fair," Mask said. "When I leave here, I'll go somewhere else and put in another job application. We're all settling instead of doing what we want."
Tango officials say Saturday's job fair went well.
"We had people lined up at the door before we got here so we were encouraged, happy to see that," said Andreoni.
And Jacqueline Mask says she'll be happy once she gets back into a job she says is perfect for her.
"I'm hoping Tango will have a spot for me. I hope the next time you see me, I'll be in a truck," Mask stated.
Tango officials say they're still taking applications even though the job fair is over.
