Olive Branch plans street repairs - Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (AP) - Olive Branch officials hope to inject more money into the road budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year.

The budget, as it stands now, has $378,000 set aside for streets.

The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/PwKG6S) that the $378,000 will be spent on some the city's busiest roads.

Mayor Sam Rikard says this fiscal year's accounts should be closed out by Dec. 1 and he will have a total of what's left over for aldermen then.

The condition of the roads is a common complaint to aldermen.

Alderman Dale Dickerson says the city has underfunded street repairs the past few years

Dickerson says he'll ask for a vote later to use reserve funds for repaving streets. He also wants a regular amount of money set aside every year for streets.
