MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Family members gathered at the Emerald Square town homes one year after a devastating day.

Christopher Young was found shot to death in his home September 15th 2011.  When Young didn't report to work the following day, his mother went to his apartment which was surrounded by crime tape.

"A year ago today my brothers body was found in these apartments," said Young's sister, Dana Upshaw.

"The idea of my son being shot down like a stray dog in the street when I know he didn't deserve it," said Dorothy Young, the victim's mother.

Loved ones say Young was a hard working father of 6.

"My brother was not a gang banger drug dealer or user," said Upshaw.  "He was a hard working man trying to do what was right for his 6 kids. A link from our chain has been yanked and broken," she added.

Relatives are begging for the public helps in solving the one year old crime.

"We want information about anybody who knows anything about my brother's murder," said brother Charles Young, Jr.  "The person who killed him took him away from his kids and his family," he added.

Young's family members fear the case has gone cold.

"It's a hard thing a bitter pill for a mother to swallow," his mother added.

"I'm not feeling too good right now, just asking the Lord to help us all," said father, Charles Young, Sr.  "I'm just want to understand and find the person who did this to him or maybe he'll turn himself in," he said.

If you have any information that can lead police to an arrest in this homicide, call Crimestoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
