WYNNE, AR -
(WMC-TV) – The two boys accused of using a noose to intimidate an African-American football player will be expelled for the rest of the semester.
But the mother of the victim was not satisfied with the school board's ruling. She says it is not enough.
"Nothing took place that could be considered criminal and that no student was physically injured," said Superintendent Carl Easley.
Regardless of whether anyone was injured, residents in Wynne, Arkansas are so upset that police were called Wednesday night to calm everyone down.
Before a large and very upset crowd, Wynne Superintendent Carl Easley worked to set the record straight about a controversial incident that has now divided the community.
"Misconduct related to racial slurs will be dealt with according to our policies and will not be tolerated," he said.
Easley also said the incident happened on Monday, September 24 and administration was not notified until the next night.
"Wednesday morning administration met with Wynne Police Department to report a possible threat of violence," said Easley.
Action News 5 tried to find out whether there would be a legal battle as a result of the incident.
So far, that question has not been answered.
Five other students were suspended in connection to the incident.
