(WMC-TV) - Memphis native Justin Timberlake is parting ways with the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
The musician turned actor was reportedly booted from the Las Vegas golf tournament because he was not more involved with the children at the hospital. But friends of the former ‘N Sync pop star say that could not be further from the truth.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reports that it is "Bye, Bye, Bye" to Timberlake when it comes to the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
The journal reports that while he did fulfill his obligations to the tournament and helped raise several million dollars through his concerts, the star was not able to generate greater interest in the tournament with his star power.
A Shriners' spokesperson went so far as to say Timberlake was only involved with the children at the hospital when TV cameras were present.
A close friend of Timberlake told Action News 5 that those reports are not true.
Kevin Kane said he participated in the golf tournament with Timberlake in past years and he saw firsthand the dedication and enthusiasm that his friend showed toward the event.
