RIPLEY, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A recent shooting spree in Ripley, Tennessee has some residents outraged and even ready to relocate.

One week after his murder, family and friends laid to rest 24-year-old Courtney Johnson Saturday.

As that family began to heal, Ripley residents learned of another murder.

With a population of just over 8,000, Saturday marked the 3rd shooting within 7 days in the West Tennessee community.

"Don't nobody want to go out their homes, don't nobody want to do nothing" said Ripley resident Jessica Jones.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is said 58-year-old Raymond Theus of Halls, Tennessee was found dead around 5 Saturday morning.

Investigators say Theus' body was found lying on the sidewalk in a pool of blood near Domino's Pizza just half-a-mile from Ripley High School.

"I never thought I'd live to see the day when you'd have bodies laying in the street killed" said Ripley resident Ray Hodges.

Less than 24-hours before Theus was killed, Ripley police responded to a shooting in the Rolling Hills apartments that put Ripley Elementary school on lockdown and sent one man to the MED.

At last check, that victim was listed in stable condition.

Jones says the 2011 murder of her brother remains unsolved and she is frustrated with the response of law enforcement.

"They need to get on their job and they need to do something about it because it's too much going on out here" said Jones.

Yet others like Hodges say police are doing their best in a bad situation.

"They're out there working" said Hodges, "they're busting their butts to do everything they can".

While some blame drugs, gangs, and the economy, Hodges said there is no excuse for the violence.

"They'd rather kill you for $5 than go out and earn it" he said.

The TBI said their investigation into the rash of shootings is ongoing.

"We all pull together and we will continue to no matter if there is another body in the morning, we will still pull together" said Hodges.

19-year-old Shunn Jones has been charged in the murder of Courtney Johnson. District Attorney, 25th District, Mike Dunavant says police are questioning persons of interest in Fridays shooting.

The TBI says there are currently no arrests in the murder of Raymond Theus.
