CLARKSDALE, MS -
(WMC-TV) – The Mississippi teenager already charged with beating an elderly woman with a brick is now charged with the kidnapping and assault of a toddler.
Edward Malane Jr., 14, is accused of two violent crimes within just a few months of each other in the Mississippi Delta.
On Monday, Malane was charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, and child abuse stemming from an incident with a 4-year-old in Tunica County.
He is also accused of beating 77-year-old Shirley Gordon with a piece of asphalt back in August.
Clarksdale police say a judge reduced his bond from $115,000 to $15,000 and he was able to bond out.
Malane is being charged as an adult in both Tunica and Clarksdale.
If he is convicted of kidnapping or child abuse, investigators say he could face life in prison.
Action News 5's calls to the judge's secretary to find out why he was granted a bond reduction have not been returned.
