YOUR TURN: Kindergarten teacher suspended over FB posts

Posted: Updated:
MEMPHIS, TN - -

The kindergarten teacher who wrote nasty things about her students on Facebook got a lot of attention on our Facebook page this week, and that's the topic for this week's "Your Turn" segment. Tameka Gatewood has been suspended from her job as a Memphis City School teacher, and many people thought that's as it should be. One school teacher though took a different view. Our comment this week comes from Tracie Wilson:

As a teacher, I am always very careful of what I post on Facebook. But I wonder when our right to just "vent" was taken away? How many other people are allowed to complain about their jobs? Why is it just teachers who aren't allowed? On the flip side, I've seen parents who post the most insulting things about teachers when something didn't go their way. How is that fair?

That's Tracie Wilson's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
