Man claims handicap-equipped van was crashed by valet at Tunica casino

TUNICA, MS -

(WMC-TV) - Earl Quezaire says he is fighting to get the compensation he deserves for his damaged vehicle and he says a Tunica casino needs to pay up.

Quezaire says he went to Tunica Roadhouse Casino on September 16 and left his handicap-equipped vehicle with the valet attendant.

Twenty minutes later, he was notified that his vehicle collided with a parked car.

According to the casino, the valet attendant's foot became lodged onto the accelerator by a handicap feature in the van, causing it to hit another car.

An insurance company that handles claims for Tunica Roadhouse offered Quezaire $6,300 to settle the matter. But he says that amount is far less that what it costs to repair the van.

"I'd like to be where I was before. My minivan with my handicapped controls and my wheelchair lift in the back. That's all. I don't want a new vehicle. Just want to be where I was before," he said.

Scott Barber, regional president for Caesar's Mid-South, issued a statement saying, "This accident consequently caused more damage to the van than what the fair market value of the van is reported to be according to our insurance carrier. As is standard operating procedure on vehicle accidents and insurance claims our insurance carrier offered the owner what they believe to be a fair market value for the vehicle."

Quezaire is in the process of seeking legal advice.
