Avoid dark porches on Halloween

Posted: Updated:
MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Many of you may be taking your little witches and superheroes out trick-or-treating tonight.

Before you go, remember to check and make sure the doors you will be knocking on are accepting trick-or-treaters.

Registered sex offenders are required by law to have their porch lights turned off.

Of course, not everyone who has their porch light off is a registered sex offender, but unless a light is on – you should assume the residents are not welcoming trick-or-treaters.

Before you head out the door, don't forget to check the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry to see who is living in your neighborhood. Click here to search.
