MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - A man was shot early Friday morning, and witnesses say it was because he got into an argument over a cigarette.
The shooting happened on the 900 block of Peabody Avenue.
Police were called to the scene where they found a 37-year-old man lying in the grass in front of a house with gunshot wounds.
Witnesses told police the victim got into an argument with the suspect over a cigarette.
They say the argument then spilled outside of the residence, and resulted in threats being made. Witnesses said the suspect warned he would be back.
Shortly thereafter, witnesses say they heard gunshots, but did not actually see the shooting.
The suspect fled the scene, and was last seen driving a Gold Cadillac.
The victim is alive, and was taken to The MED. He is in critical condition.
