MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Apple's advanced technology could once again help police track down two men believed to have stolen an iPhone from a vehicle in Germantown.

According to police, the victim reported the iPhone stolen. After getting a new phone and activating the iTunes account, the victim found that the iCloud was still updating from the stolen phone.

iCloud is a feature offered by Apple that allows users to store photos, music, and other data remotely rather than using the local storage on the phone or an external storage device. They call the remote storage space the ‘cloud'.

"The whole point of it is, basically that person is not going to lose their information and they do have some sort of evidence as to who may have the device," explained Thomas Bledsoe, who works at iRepear.

Police released the images the suspects reportedly took using the stolen iPhone.

Coincidentally, two of the photos show the alleged suspects in front of a ‘Steelers' flag.

If you can identify the men in the photos, you are asked to call Sergeant Keaton at (901) 568-5645. You can remain anonymous.
