(WMC-TV) – Detectives are investigating the murder of a 16-year-old boy.
Officers responded to a ‘man down' call at 4487 Leatherwood Avenue in southeast Memphis on Tuesday.
When they got to the scene, they found the body of the Demarco Adams lying in the backyard.
Adams had been shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.
"It was some gunshots and we came outside and people were crowded around the house," said Edgar Anderson, who lives in the neighborhood.
Police told neighbors someone was shot while trying to break into a home.
"They said it was a burglary and they was trying to escape and the victim of the burglary was running behind him chasing him," said Anderson.
No arrests have been made in the teen's death.
