MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A 17-year-old Houston High School student killed in a car crash is being remembered.

Family and friends of Sarah Carmichael say the sky was the limit for her future. A fundraiser was held in her honor Wednesday, at the very place she was headed to when she was killed.

"She was always eager to work and do her best," said Chris Avery, Skyzone of Memphis owner.

Carmichael was excited for her first job at Skyzone and she was known there for her energy.

"She really liked being out here jumping, she loved playing dodge ball, she loved being in this foam pit right behind me," said Avery.

Avery owns the indoor trampoline park. He says the news of Carmichael's death was devastating.

The 17-year-old was killed in a car accident the morning of October 6 on her way in to work.

"Because Sarah was such a good employee and because it hit our Skyzone family pretty hard we wanted to do something to help," said Avery.

A softball player at Houston High School, family members say Carmichael had a special passion for theater and loved the television show Glee.

In her memory, Skyzone, friends, and classmates held a fundraiser Wednesday.

Those closest to her say Carmichael jumped into their hearts and will always be remembered as the girl they say was high on life.

"I think she would enjoy looking down on us and seeing all of her friends, family, etc. enjoying a time in her honor," said Avery.

The fundraiser will be going on until 8 p.m. Wednesday. All of the proceeds raised will be donated to the Houston High School theater program, the HOSA organization, and the Carmichael family.
