MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - Marcos Lira and his family said the shooting death of his son, 21-year-old Louis Lira, is senseless.
"He feels like what happened is unfair," said Lira with the help of a Spanish translator
It happened just after midnight Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a shooting call in front of 1936 Davis Circle where they discovered a large pool of blood in the street, but there was no victim on the scene.
"I heard a bunch of gunshots and people screaming," said friend Jessica Garza.
Minutes later officers arrived at Lira's home in the 4000 block of Truman where they found his vehicle in the driveway up against this fence with multiple bullet holes.
Investigators said Lira was in the driver's seat with multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities said he had been shot at 1936 Davis by a known suspect.
"His cousin called me, well my boyfriend on the phone and told him he was murdered and I was like what? Surprised, no way, not him," said acquaintance Ashley Martinez.
Lira's family tells me they believe the shooting stems from an argument over money.
"We lost our son. We are crying over my son's death. This is unfair. Where is the justice in this state?" said translator Idalia Beshires.
A suspect is in custody, but has not been charged at this time.
