MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – A man is under arrest in connection with the woman who was murdered in a downtown Memphis high-rise.

46-year-old Connie Cox was found dead, face down in a stairwell on the 19th floor of the Renaissance Apartments in August 2012.

What first appeared to be an accident, was later ruled a homicide by investigators.

Scott Porter, 41, is now under arrest and is charged with second degree murder in Cox's death.

On August 15, a witness told detectives they received a phone call from Porter who said a woman was inside his apartment, bleeding badly, and refusing to leave. Later that day, the same witness was inside Porter's apartment and told police they thought they saw blood. It also looked like Porter may have tried to clean up.

Police obtained a search warrant and found several bloody items.

According to police, Cox's body was found about 23 feet from Porter's apartment.

The arrest warrant for Porter was issued on November 12. Porter is expected to appear in court on November 20. His bond is set at $3 million.
