MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – For the 9th straight year, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is kicking off its "Thanks and Giving" campaign with the help of several personalities and celebrities.

It is a holiday campaign giving thanks for the healthy children in our lives, and giving to those who are not.

"Some girls wish to grow up and be a princess; other girls wish to simply grow up. May and Bailey are friends battling kidney cancer at St Jude Children's research hospital," said Jennifer Anniston in a promotional video for the campaign.

"We're very proud that St Jude is in Memphis and our laboratories are in Memphis but our discoveries are in every community in this country, so that's why it's important to take this time with this national campaign to say to the nation, ‘Please help us because we're helping children in every single community,'" said Marlo Thomas, daughter of St. Jude Founder Danny Thomas.

Marlo Thomas talked with Action News 5's Andrew Douglas about all of the businesses and people involved in the "Thanks and Giving" campaign.

"AutoZone, International Paper involved now from Memphis. Dominos Pizza, CVS, and William Sonoma, Anne Taylor and Dick's sporting goods. All kinds of fabulous partners that we have," said Thomas.

It costs $1.8 million each day to operate St Jude. Last year, the "Thanks and Giving" campaign raised $68 million. This year, the children's hospital is hoping to raise $74 million.
