HARDEMAN COUNTY, TN -
(WMC-TV) – The Hardeman County Correctional Facility is under lock down as Tennessee's Department of Correction internal affairs officials investigate the early morning death of an inmate.
Around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, facility staff found the inmate unresponsive in his cell. Despite attempts to revive him, the inmate died.
Local law enforcement and TDOC officials responded. As they investigate, the correctional facility is on lock down and inmates are restricted to their cells.
The cause of death has not yet been determined and the name of the inmate is not being released at this time.
Prison officials plan to take the prison off lock down Thursday.
