MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Christmas is less than 48-hours away and some people haven't even started buying gifts.

At Target and many other stores around the mid-south, shoppers like Anthony and Amanda Thompson are on a mission to buy all the gifts they can before Christmas.

"We tried to get a lot done in early part of the month but you always think about more people and things like that you want to get something for," said the Thompson's.

From TV's, to toys, to computer equipment, shoppers are turning finding the right gift into a full time job.

"I've bought scarves clothes, ah just a variety of stuff," said shopper Caretha Hopson.

Many stores are opening earlier and keeping the doors open later to accommodate some die hard shoppers.

"Obviously we're very excited," stated Target manager Antoni Poux.  "It's a time of year we all love, it's like our little Super Bowl.  We got 2 or 3 days before Christmas so the rush is on," he added.

If you don't mind the crowds and the long lines at the cash register, there may be a few advantages to waiting until the last minute to do your Christmas shopping.

Shoppers tell us some of the best advantages come in the form of store markdowns and other last minute savings.

"Well I just bought a nice shirt as a gift and I got it pretty cheap," said Hopson.

Some have shopped so much they've lost count of all the places and savings.

Store managers, like Poux, are loving it.

"I don't sleep, I don't sleep.  I love it here I'm here all the time I love it," said Poux.
