MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - There is a lot of power and energy in the changing of the calendar. It rolls over to a new year and we set our personal agendas to do better in the 365 days ahead -- our New Year's resolutions.
For 2013, I'm making one of my resolutions to be more positive about Memphis, our city which is the hub of the Mid-South.
I'm inviting everyone else in the region to join me in this resolution. It's no secret, and it's not unusual, that a big city like Memphis has some problems. What may be a little unusual is how hard Memphians and other Mid-Southerners can be on our own community.
A little more civic pride would do wonders for our collective self-esteem. Now, I'm not suggesting that anyone should ignore the serious problems that our area faces. I am saying that a more positive outlook might go a long way toward helping us solve some of them.
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
