TIPTON COUNTY, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Faith De'Forge wrote The Leader in Covington just before Christmas asking for a special request from Santa.  But instead, she's been requested to appear in court.

The state inspector general indicted De'Forge for TennCare fraud.

"She says she's had 17 surgeries, nine on her legs and needs her painkillers and there's no way she'd sell them," said The Leader's news editor Echo Day.

On Wednesday, Day opened a letter to the editor from De'Forge.

In the letter, De'Forge makes an unusual request to the public.

"She said she and her mother are needy and wanted a computer and a fence for their two dogs," said Day.

State officials say De'Forge doctor shopped for Hydrocodone, meaning, she went to several different doctors for the same prescription.

She faces four counts of fraud.

Action News 5's Justin Hanson knocked on De'Forge's front door. Her cousin answered saying she left Thursday morning and has not been back. Her cousin had nothing to say about her indictment.

In her letter to The Leader, De'Forge wrote that she and her mother "barely make it".

She told Echo Day she is not guilty of doctor shopping and was just trying to get a little help from residents in Tipton County.

"She wanted to know if someone would put in a good word with Santa," added Day.

This is Faith De'Forge's first arrest in Tipton County.

District Attorney Mike Dunavant is prosecuting this case.
