TIPTON COUNTY, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Law enforcement officers from across the Mid-South joined together in Tipton County Monday evening to participate in a "Sea of Blue" for an officer killed in the line of duty six years ago.

The "Sea of Blue" happens every year in honor of fallen Tennessee State Trooper Calvin Jenks.

Trooper Jenks was shot and killed near the Haywood and Tipton County lines in 2007.

The annual "Sea of Blue" procession stretched about 15 miles Monday evening.

Jenks' father, Norm Jenks, and his brother, Daniel Thompson, both drove to Tipton County from the Nashville area to attend the memorial.

"It's not easy. Coming down the interstate, you think of all the times you made the trip for the trial and stuff like that. Some of those times were real hard times for myself and my family," said Jenks' father, Norm Jenks.
