MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) – Police made an arrest in connection with the fire that happened at the Countryview Mobile Home Community early Monday morning.
The abandoned mobile home park has been targeted by arsonists since December 2011.
A police officer noticed a car driving out of the mobile home park, which is now a restricted area. When the officer was talking to the three men inside the vehicle, he noticed one of the mobile homes in the park was on fire.
One of the men inside the car, David Lunsford, told police he is homeless and he made the fire to stay warm. He said the other men were there because he called his friend, the driver of the car, and asked him to come pick him up.
Lunsford admitted he had been living in the mobile home park for a few days.
He is charged with arson and criminal trespass.
Investigators have not said whether they believe Lunsford was responsible for any of the other fires and vandalism that has happened in the neighborhood. He has not been charged with any of the other fires.
