(WMC-TV) - A native Memphian is "Army Strong" and earning top honors in his brigade.

Sergeant Eddie Partee is an information technology manager in the United States Army.

He is assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 10th Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade based at Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Not only is Sgt. Partee the Virginia Soldier of the Month, but he is also the brigade's Noncommissioned Officer of the Year.

He competed against other highly skilled soldiers within his brigade for the honor. Now, he will go onto the 18th Airborne Corps Noncommissioned Officer of the Year competition to represent the "Resolute" brigade.

"It felt great to win but it doesn't stop there," said Sgt. Partee.  "I expect it to be more challenging, but I am ready. The hard part now is preparing for what are they going to ask me."

Competing for top honors is nothing new for the Memphis native. He started competing in the Army as a private, shortly after he enlisted in 2007.

Although winning the 18th Noncommissioned Officer of the Year would be a great accomplishment for him, it is the dream of becoming a drill sergeant that really drives Partee.

"When I met my drill sergeant on that first day, I knew immediately I wanted to be in his position," said Sgt. Partee.

Good luck, soldier!
