Road, school closures in Mid-South due to flooding

(WMC-TV) - There are school and road closures across the Mid-South due to flooding.

All schools in the Fayette County Schools district will be closed Monday.

McNairy County Schools will close Monday due to flooding in the county.

School buses will be unable to reach many students.

Also, all Hardin County Schools are closed Monday due to flooding.

Hardeman County schools will also close Monday.

Hardeman County experienced flooding Sunday as a washed away road has 50 to 75 people trapped on the other side.

Murphy Lane off of Union Springs Road in Whiteville, Tenn. has dozens of drivers and residents stranded.

Whiteville Police Department chief Steve Stanley said do not attempt to cross the flooded area.

Also, Holly Springs Road in DeSoto County, Miss. is closed due to water overload.

The Panola County Sheriff said to be careful of water over roads west of Batesville near Dummy Line Road and also west of the town of Sardis south of Highway 315.

Also, the Panola County Sheriff said there is a concern for possible flooding in low lying areas near the town of Crenshaw. Emergency crews are in the area monitoring.
