DeSoto County endures dangerous road conditions

Posted: Updated:
(WMC-TV) - The winter weather caused dangerous road conditions in north Mississippi Tuesday, all day there was a light drizzle that continued into nightfall.

A few isolated accidents were recorded, but overall traffic was moving smoothly.

During much of the day in DeSoto county, there were four separate car wrecks.

Three were from people sliding on ice and spinning out of control on the same overpass on Highway 78.

The good news is that nobody got hurt.

Down south on Highway 78, three kids and four adults went to the hospital but their injuries were not life threatening.

The rain is sticking to and freezing on some surfaces, especially those that remain still for any length of time.

DeSoto County schools were out Monday.

Emergency officials said they will continue to watch the weather and these roads throughout the night.
