Driver attacked during "bump and rob"

Posted: Updated:
MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - An urban legend became reality last Friday on this stretch of South Third Street when at least one woman driver became victim of a "bump and rob."

Memphis Police said the "bump and rob" really happens, and female drivers should perhaps beware more than others.

Last Friday, the car two women were traveling in was bumped from behind on South Third Street.

The driver was attacked and robbed of her purse after getting out to inspect the damage.

While a female accomplice, 24 year-old Selenia Holden, was caught — the suspect, last seen in a Pontiac Aztec, got away.

The suspect is identified in this affidavit as Ronald Walker.

Holden told police Walker was intentionally targeting female victims by bumping then robbing them in order to buy drugs.

One man's advice to his friends is something you should keep in mind.

"If somebody bumps them in the back they either need to go to a public place or a police station. If the guy's sincere, he'll follow there," said Memphis resident Kesean Henry.

Remember, you can always file a minor accident report later.
