MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – A Legal Battle is brewing over the estate of slain NBA Star Lorenzen Wright, centering on hundreds of thousands of dollars spent over the course of 10 months.

Now, the family believes his ex-wife, Sherra Wright, is misusing the money left to his children.

Shelby County court documents show Sherra Robinson Wright received more than $1 million in life insurance money after her ex-husband Lorenzen Wright was murdered.

In 10 months, Robinson Wright spent more than $970,000.

The mother of the NBA star's 6 children was ordered by the court to use the money to support the kids.

But according to the Commercial Appeal Lorenzen Wright's father, Herb Wright, is questioning some of those purchases.

Some of the items on his ex daughter in law's expense account.

  • More than $55,000 for furniture
  • More than $180,000 in expenses at 4 different properties.  Construction, landscaping, remodeling and repairs.
  • Many items appear to be for the children, like birthday gifts and a party for Lorenzen, Jr. totaling $1,900.
  • Spring outfits for girls almost $2,300.

But many of the entries are vague.

  • One item described as "kids and household expenses" totaling $25,000.
  • Another for "Home and Auto Care", $15,000.

Herb Wright told the newspaper Sherra Robinson Wright is not acting in his grandchildrens' best interest.  Adding quote "we'll be heading back to court."
