PANOLA COUNTY, MS -

(WMC-TV) - A 73-year-old man was hunting along a rural road when investigators say his bullet ricocheted and went through a school bus window sending a little boy to the hospital.

Investigators in Panola County are piecing together details to learn more about how the shooting happened Monday afternoon.

"By the time law enforcement got there, investigators got there, the sun was going down, which made it difficult to be able to determine exactly what happened," said District Attorney John Champion.

Investigators combed the area most of the night, looking for clues as to how a bullet went through a school bus window as it was delivering children home for the day.

Michael Terry, a second grader, was hit in the back by that stray bullet.

The entire shooting was captured on school bus video. That video is not being released because the incident is still under investigation.

"Fortunately, it doesn't happen that often because of the amount of hunting that goes on around here," said Champion.

No charges have been filed in the case.

The 10-year-old boy is listed in satisfactory condition at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
