A Van ISD district employee confirms that all Van schools are on low-level lockdown Thursday afternoon.
The lockdown is due to the area's proximity to the interstate. After this morning's shooting of an Assistant District Attorney in Kaufman County, followed by the announcement that two suspects are on the run and possibly headed to the East Texas area, administration thought it best to take this precautionary measure.
In order to keep the students safe, the doors will remain locked throughout the school day and teachers will escort students to buses and parents' cars at the school day's usual dismissal time.
