Richardson, TX (PRWEB) February 04, 2013
iPhotonix, a true pioneer in delivering highly flexible, feature rich, independent ONT solutions today announced the release of its Wi-Fi-enabled ONTs as part of its iVolve Series Optical Access Platform. The unique approach of the iVolve platform, combined with market changing features such as Wi-Fi capabilities, delivers a competitive edge that telecom operators and MSOs have never been offered before.
The iPhotonix iVolve Series of ONTs offer a comprehensive choice of voice services for operators, including POTs and VoIP, and can deliver video over RF or IPTV on the same network. An integrated GPON device that combines a NID (WAN interface device) and WLAN (Wi-Fi access point) in a single device provides dramatic savings in total cost of ownership, both in terms of capital and operating expenditures. By integrating this unique multi-SSID Wi-Fi Access Points solution into their newest iVolve platform, IPhotonix provides Telecom Operators and MSOs the competitive edge to retain and acquire new subscribers.
Greenlight Networks, an innovative Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) serving communities in New York State, is one of the first operators to select the Wi-Fi capable ONT for its Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments throughout its service areas.
“We are very much excited to work with a company that is forward thinking and believes in providing extremely fast and affordable Internet service to their customers by building their own fiber optic networks”, said Raj Devasigamani, Director Planning and Development at iPhotonix.
“Using an ONT with managed, integrated wireless means less equipment for us to maintain, and less to deploy in the field,” says Mark Murphy, Managing Partner at Greenlight Networks. “This bridge functionality allows us to deliver Wi-Fi to customers and reach a price point that is much more economical than a traditional gateway. Before we would need to utilize consumer-grade routers to provide the service within our customers’ budget. Now we can deliver better service at a better price point, and the devices are easier to manage on our end.”
“Our next-generation iVolve series of ONTs are developed with the primary focus of keeping costs low and enhancing user experience without sacrificing quality”, said Mr. Devasigamani. “iPhotonix ONTs are cost competitive and packed with features, functionality and a rich set of security options not found in standalone, commercially available Wi-Fi routers”, he adds.
“We service mainly residential customers in homes and multiple-dwelling buildings like apartments and condos,” says Murphy, “and using iPhotonix Wi-Fi integrated ONTs allows us to include managed wireless for these customers. From a business perspective, because our customers are mostly residential and therefore comprise a smaller revenue pool, the ease of installation and management makes it a more compelling option for us by keeping both our CAPEX and OPEX low. Plus we can hit those price points customers want.”
iPhotonix, LLC is based in Richardson, Texas, and is primarily focused on the telecommunications access market. Over the past five years, iPhotonix has been a true pioneer in the design, development and manufacturing of high quality, carrier class, multi-vendor, optical network termination devices. iPhotonix develops and markets a line of carrier-class Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) products including the world's broadest array of independent Optical Network Terminals (ONT’s) to both Telecommunications Service Providers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Our Access Platform is used in the delivery of broadband (1Gbps) integrated voice, video, video-on-demand and high-speed Internet access services that terminate the optical network at the enterprises, businesses, homes and multi-tenant locations (FTTx or Fiber-to-the-x).
Greenlight Networks was founded in 2011 and based in the Rochester New York area, Greenlight services mainly multiple-dwelling residential customers with high-speed internet service. Standard speeds offered are 100 mps up and 20 mps down, with an eye toward the emerging trend of families cutting the cable cord and choosing instead to streaming video through internet-connected devices.
iPhotonix ONTs go beyond serving the traditional home, enterprise, and wireless backhaul services by addressing fixed mobile convergence and public access network requirements. The devices are configurable to interoperate with a multitude of OLTs and interfaces with most voice services systems in the world.
iPhotonix will be introducing and demonstrating the unit at the Rural Telecom Show in Orlando February 3-6, 2013 and at the the 65th Annual Louisiana Telecommunications Association Convention February 6-8, 2013 . An exclusive one-on-one overview presentation of the iVolve ONT access platform can be arranged at either of these shows by inquiring at sales (at) iphotonix (dot) com.
