(WMC-TV) – A series of house fires swept through Memphis overnight. Three homes caught on fire, and despite being occupied, no one got hurt.
The first fire happened in the 3500 block of Coleman. That's where a family of six escaped their burning home around 12:45 Friday morning. The couple has four sons ages 1 through 7, and one has Cerebral Palsy.
The father talks about how their night in front of the fireplace took a dangerous turn.
"Somehow, she heard a popping noise behind the fireplace so I said what's going on?" Travis Joiner said. " So I tried to put the fire out... it wouldn't go out so I go outside and I see the fire in the chimney the chimney lit up."
The family is getting some help from the Red Cross.
The second fire happened at a home on University St. near Point Church. We have been told the residents were not at home when the house caught fire around midnight. The fire is still under investigation.
And the third fire happened on Northmeade near Schoolfield. We're told Memphis police actually made it to this fire first around 11 p.m. Thursday, and alerted the fire department. The two adults and teen who live there were not home at the time.
The company's left a 15-state trail of phony book and magazine sales. Andy Wise followed its trail to a $1/2 million house in a gated community off Holmes Rd.More >>
