NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A former Sommet Group executive violated pretrial release by moving to Arizona and changing his name without notifying the court.
The Tennessean reports Brian Whitfield was summoned to U.S. District Court in Nashville on Friday.
Whitfield told the judge he changed his last name to Edwards for "public purposes" because he was part of an online radio program.
Magistrate Judge John Bryant released Whitfield under the same conditions he has been under and ordered him to be on supervised release in Tennessee and Arizona. His bond is $20,000.
Whitfield, his estranged wife and her father were indicted in early 2012 for what prosecutors say was a multiyear scheme to defraud Sommet's clients of tens of millions of dollars.
Sommet formerly held the naming rights to the Bridgestone Arena.
