MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Later this month, people will be gathering across the country for a "day of resistance", celebrating and protesting the threat of their second amendment rights.

Organizers of the rally in Memphis created a video that is generating a lot of buzz.

Richard Brown has a message and he is getting it out through a song.

"It's a right and I don't think it should be infringed upon. I don't think any gun has got up and shot anybody," said Brown.

It is just one of the ways he is spreading the word about the Memphis "day of resistance".

"We're not protesting, we're just resisting and saying you're not going to walk over us," said Collierville resident Elaine Ervin.

Ervin is taking part in the rally for several reasons.

"You're dealing with the rights of the country and the rights of the people that put you there," she said.

Ervin recently purchased a gun and plans to take a class so she can earn a permit to carry it. She believes her right to own the gun.

"They're getting in the hands of the wrong people but that shouldn't effect me," she said.

The Memphis "day of resistance" will take place at Range USA on February 23. Range USA owners say they are not affiliated with the "day of resistance".
