MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Parents of Memphis and Shelby County students can begin applying to get their kids in a different school.

The transfer process begins online. You can log onto the Shelby County Schools website or the Memphis City Schools website. Going through the transfer process online will save you time. There is no waiting in line -- and no paper.

Tomeco Sisson was the first person in line to get her daughter into another school.

"I'm looking for something that is going to have a schedule that's a little more consistent, then I can plan at work accordingly because I am a working parent," said Sisson.

If you do not have a way to start the application process online, you can go to several locations to get started:

  • MCS Technology Training Center, 3772 Jackson Avenue, Memphis, TN
  • 2800 Grays Creek, Arlington, TN
  • All MCS regional offices
  • Neighborhood schools
  • Your child's current school

The transfer program runs through April 1.
