(WMC-TV) - Thaddeus Matthews appeared in court Wednesday in response to allegations that he took a woman's money, but never provided the trip he promised her.

Both Thaddeus Matthews and Annie Smith appeared in court to argue their cases.

"Thaddeus never returned my money to me," said Smith.

In which Matthews responded, "I don't know, but I don't owe that woman no money."

The two are fighting over $800 that Smith says she paid Matthews for a bus trip to President Obama's inauguration in Washington D.C.

Smith claims that days before the big bus ride, Matthews backed out of the trip and she had to pay another contractor $1,000 to take her to the inauguration.

Outside the courtroom, Matthews said that he did allow another contractor to take over the trip but he claims he refunded the 11 people who signed up with him.

"I paid everybody," he said. "I paid $4,000 out of my pocket and all those people, all those people came to my office including Miss Smith and picked up their money."

Matthews maintains that he will be vindicated when the case goes to court on March 20.

Smith is also predicting victory.
