MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Ridgeway High school parents are demanding answers after a basketball scandal fouled up their chances at a state championship. And Monday morning, parents will gather outside of Ridgeway High in protest of what's happened to the team.

Last week, the Ridgeway Roadrunners found out they were disqualified from the state playoffs because one of their players is ineligible to play.

According to the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association, number 22, McKinzey Sewell is really an 18-years-old. And Sewell has already earned a GED from a school in Louisiana - and is living with a girlfriend or wife.

He also provided false transcripts to the school. Ridgeway high's coach reported it to the TSSAA But instead of just Sewell suffering the consequences, the entire team has to pay. And that is motivating outraged parents to gather at the school.

"He formed relationships and bonds with these kids, they're thinking that he is one of them," said Kim Gillespie, parent. "Our boys have worked extremely hard this year and for the actions of two adults to totally ruin their season it is ridiculous."

Sewell is not facing any criminal charges at this time. No one has heard from him since Thursday.

We're still waiting for Ridgeway's principal and Memphis City Schools to comment on this situation. We will be following this story closely and let you know when they do.
