Kroger events to raise support for 'wine in grocery stores'

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Over the next two days, a prominent grocery store chain is hoping to gain support for the wine in grocery stores bill.

Kroger plans to host several in-store events to bring awareness to the legislation that is currently under consideration at the state Capitol.

"We hear from our customers every day that they would like to be able to purchase wine in grocery stores," said Melissa Eads, community affairs manager for Kroger in Middle Tennessee.

Kroger officials and the Tennessee Grocers Association will be on hand to provide customers with facts about the legislation, which is scheduled to move to the Senate Finance Committee next week.

The events are as follows:
