(WMC-TV) - A Mid-South man who lost his leg while serving in Afghanistan received an extremely special gift.

It all started when a local body shop pretended to steal his vehicle a week ago, and they returned it Saturday with a new look.

"Im speechless I don't know what to say right now, I just want to drive," said recipient Sean Dial.

For the past week, the war veteran was led to believe his big red truck had been stolen, when it was actually at a body shop in Memphis getting an extreme makeover.

"We stole his truck without telling him, played it off for a week ,took pictures of it stripped down in a field acted like we had a private investigator," said Jacob Tranum of 4 Wheel Parts.

The staff at 4 Wheel Parts in Memphis got busy, donating their time and talent to the Mid-South Rally Wounded Warrior Project. A group that provides programs and services to wounded war veterans.

Dial was serving in Afghanistan when he stepped on a land mine and lost his left leg. He thought he was attending a car and truck show Saturday when his tricked out truck appeared out of nowhere.

"You just don't see acts of kindness as much anymore this is all like fairy tale TV stuff and I'm speechless, it's phenomenal," said Dial.

After a week of worrying about the fate of his stolen vehicle, Dial's mood went from down in the dumps to being eternally grateful.

"It's just phenomenal, and I'm forever grateful for it I'm still in shock I still can't believe it," he said.

There are Wounded Warrior groups around the country. The organization was founded after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
