MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) - Memphis teenagers are learning about teamwork and confidence this spring break from high in the sky.
There are events at BRIDGES all week to help Mid-South youth come together with some physical challenges like a high ropes course and a rock climbing wall.
"When they're cheering you on, nothing can scare you, the adrenaline is rushing so you just want to go forward go up," said bridge builder Bryan Redmond.
Teenagers are learning to trust from high in the sky, secured by strangers and friends standing 20 feet below.
"I don't look down because if you do that you're going to be like, 'Ahh'," said participant Maya White.
BRIDGES is an organization uniting Mid-South youth from all walks of life to develop relationships and make a difference in their communities.
"It puts you in an environment where you've never met anyone before and it challenges you to step outside your boundaries," Redmond said.
Early Wednesday, groups of kids ventured into Memphis to learn more about their city. On Thursday, they will have the opportunity to give back by volunteering at several community gardens.
"You want to learn to become a better person and a leader," Redmond said.
There are activities planned for the rest of the week. You can learn more by clicking here: http://www.bridgesusa.org/sbfc
