MEMPHIS, TN -
(WMC-TV) – The Shelby County Sheriff's Office was on the scene of a deadly shooting in Raleigh Thursday night. And Friday, someone is likely to be charged for the crime. We are told a suspect was arrested after a brief police pursuit.
Investigators say a 49-year-old man was shot and killed while sitting on the passenger's side of car parked in a driveway.
It happened around 8 p.m. in the 4200 block of Kings Valley Cove - in a neighborhood not too far from Egypt Central High School.
We're told the victim, known to neighbors as "Pig," had just arrived home with a woman.
She was on her way into the house when someone approached the car.
"Apparently, an individual walked up and began firing several shots, striking the victim - he was pronounced dead at the scene," said Shelby County Sheriff's Spokesman Chip Washington.
Washington also told us that a suspect was arrested after a brief pursuit. No further information is being released at this time.
This is the second homicide investigators have worked in the county's jurisdiction this year.
Action News 5 will continue to follow this story, and update as new information is released.
