MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - Many NCAA basketball fans are preparing brackets and making travel arrangements in preparation for the "big dance".

With both Memphis and Ole Miss in the tournament, many Mid-Southerners are looking for the cheapest way to get to the games.

The Memphis Tigers will play in Auburn Hills, Michigan about 12 hours away.

"Your round trip mileage is 1,564 miles. It would be about 53 gallons of gas and $226," said Cheryl Keating, AAA.

Ole Miss will play in Kansas City, Missouri, which is about an eight hour drive.

"Kansas City round trip is 1,053 miles," explained Keating. "It would be about 42 gallons of gas and cost about $147 dollars."

The cost to get there is not that bad but it is time consuming. You will pay for convenience to fly.

According to AAA, flights from Memphis to Detroit vary between $615 to more than $1,000.

Flying from Memphis to Kansas City costs around $870 per ticket and do not forget about high rates for hotels and rental cars.
